Drix is a creature type used for cards that depict humanoid aliens native to The Edge.

Description

The drix are gray-skinned, humanoid beings with long arms and tapered fingers and a head with protuberances on the sides. Their forehead and face are separated by a line that glows blue, as are their eyes. Some have tentacle-like protuberances that simulate facial hair, like whiskers.

The Drix are able to travel at faster-than-light speeds through a process known as Weftwalking. By moving through a parallel plane known as the Weft while remaining anchored in their physical reality, the Drix can compress all of space and time into a single space through which to move. Their abilities are further increased through ritual and technological augmentation.

The Drix are a nomadic and deeply isolationist species. A gathering of a dozen Drix is considered a large amount. When the Drix do gather, it is usually on various Beam Worlds, which remain superpositional regardless of the state of reality.[1]

History

Native to The Edge, the Drix predate the Pinnacle by several millenia. The Drix possess the Fabric of All Being, an artifact even older than them that contains the fate of all things. Using it, the Drix mastered the art of Weftwalking.

Millenia ago, the Drix were allied with the Fomori in a war against invading Eldrazi. Though the Fomori later vanished, the Drix put the Eldrazi tide into remission and made it their duty to hunt down survivors.

Later on, the Drix joined the Pinnacle and taught them the secret to travelling at faster-than-light speeds. In exchange, the Pinnacle gave them unilateral authority to freely handle the Eldrazi and any other extraversal objects.[1]
